In the conception of my works, I usually start from the exhibition space and construct my designs collage-like from set pieces of my own or found photographs or film stills. In the painterly translation, I examine the photographic models for their content: in the process of painting, the subject-object relationships of the figures and objects or the relationship to the space surrounding them change. Sometimes I discover other levels of meaning in the scenes through the painting process - irritations arise that cannot be planned. Dissolution occurs, figures and spaces interpenetrate. I am interested in the ambiguous and the disparate, a reconciliation of inner and outer pictorial worlds that only leaves traces of this kind in the medium of painting.
