I paint non-objective pictures that evoke a variety of associations through the biomorphic pictorial language. - I work systematically; each painting is built up successively through sets (groups) of similar contour lines or simple painting gestures. - Seemingly contradictory is the way in which gestural painting is undermined by careful measuring, as well as the other way round, controlled and systematic marking is subverted by gestural painting gestures; they may be opposite ways of thinking but that is how I want to construct my paintings. - Contour lines or simple painting gestures are repeated one after the other, then another set of lines, another set of shapes or areas of colour, creating complex webs of forms. - The reference to music is represented by the repetitive patterns as a visual representation of rhythms; furthermore, by the rough similarity of some shapes and lines to obscure characters.
