Painting is at the centre of Oksana Pyzh’s artistic practice. She explores landscape as a space of memory, perception, and transformation. Her works often begin with specific places and photographic references, which she transforms, simplifies, and fragments through the process of painting. As a result, her landscapes exist between recognisability and abstraction. Rather than functioning as documentary representations, they emerge as fluid spaces of memory.
Alongside painting, Pyzh works with analogue photograms, created directly on light-sensitive paper without the use of a camera. Another important aspect of her practice is site-specific installation, in which materiality, transparency, light, and spatial perception play a central role. Across these different media, she explores the relationship between presence and absence, as well as between physical place and memory.
