The Coelner Zimmer shows works by Beate Gärtner, Tobias Hoffmann and Christian Marschalt, which all deal with themes of digital utopias.

Beate Gärtner graduated in sculpture in Essen and is now studying film and video at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf since 2019. Codes and signs are not only her source of inspiration, but at the same time form the starting point of her artistic work. In her play with digital and real spaces, she creates drawings, objects and installations as well as videos and XR works. In the Coelner Zimmer she shows her series "codes".

With their collaboration, the artists Tobias Hoffmann and Christian Marschalt want to build a bridge - between the exciting possibilities of visualizations in the infinite digital space and experiencable form and the materiality of traditional art making. In doing so, the two artists ask themselves and us critical questions: Do more social networks and platforms lead us to more interaction, networking and a more lively togetherness? Or do algorithms and the monetary interests of the operators profit from our time of life? Are we wasting ourselves on social networks in a false hope for relevance? And where will these interactions lead us? The interactive installation "distance z" confronts the viewer with these questions in a haunting way.
